This source reports two treatments. Both are shown.

Protocol 1

DerivedN. C. Deno, 1993

Difficulty Moderate Rated by us, not by the source.

Start around March 21, 2027 for a May 3 last frost.

  1. Sow and cover

    Temperature: 70°F 21°C

No stated waiting before sowing. Then 15 days to germinate.

51% germination in 12–15 days.

Thalictrum (Ranunculaceae). Germination in this genus was found to be dramatically stimulated by GA-3. The seedlings are normal and healthy. This is a great benefit because otherwise germination is low and much extended in most of the species. In general DS is not tolerated. Light was not used in this genus. T. petaloideum germ. 70(51% in 12-15 d) and 40(3%)-70(32% in 2-4 w). This seed was received from Manchuria in April and had been DS for at least 6 m.

Protocol 2

DerivedN. C. Deno, 1993

Difficulty Moderate Rated by us, not by the source.

Start around September 10, 2027 for a May 3 last frost. Too late for spring 2027 — that needed starting on September 9, 2026.

  1. Cold moist stratification

    Duration: 90 daysTemperature: 40°F 4°C

    3 germinated in this phase.

  2. Warm moist stratification

    Duration: 90 daysTemperature: 70°F 21°C

about 6 months from start to sowing. Then 28 days to germinate.

32% germination in 14–28 days.
