Fritillaria acmopetala

Genus Fritillaria

This source reports three treatments. All are shown.

Protocol 1

DerivedN. C. Deno, 1993

Difficulty Low Rated by us, not by the source.

Start around January 25, 2027 for a May 3 last frost.

  1. Cold moist stratification

    Temperature: 40°F 4°C

No stated waiting before sowing. Then 70 days to germinate.

100% germination in 42–70 days.

This source doesn't state how long.

Fritillaria (Liliaceae). This genus germ. primarily at 40. Sometimes this had to be preceded by a cycle at 70 making the species a 70-40 germinator. The seedlings did not always develop, and it is probable that this was the result of shifting them to 70 too suddenly. More study is needed on this problem. Some species showed intolerance to DS, particularly F. acmopetala germ. best with fresh seed in 40(45% in 9-12 w)-70(23% in 2-6 d). A prior 3 m at 70 had no effect. DS for 6 m at 70 is fatal. F. caricá germ. 40(100% in 6-10w) and 70-40(45%% in 11th w).

Protocol 2

DerivedN. C. Deno, 1993

Difficulty Moderate Rated by us, not by the source.

Start around October 13, 2026 for a May 3 last frost.

  1. Cold moist stratification

    Duration: 90 daysTemperature: 40°F 4°C

  2. Warm moist stratification

    Duration: 90 daysTemperature: 70°F 21°C

    23 germinated in this phase.

Steps after step 1 run on after germination.

about 3 months from start to sowing. Then 84 days to germinate.

45% germination in 63–84 days.

  1. Warm moist stratification

    Duration: 90 daysTemperature: 70°F 21°C

  2. Cold moist stratification
